Senator Ted Kennedy’s hospitalization for a seizure turned into something much more serious today when doctors announced he was suffering from a malignant brain tumor. According to CNN, Kennedy’s colleagues in the senate are “stunned” — apparently McCain got all teary-eyed. “I would not be sitting here as a presidential candidate were it not for some of the battles he fought as a senator,” Barack Obama said. “He battled for voting rights and civil rights when I was a child. I stand on his shoulders.”
I am sad :’(
If it weren’t for him, I couldn’t go chill on the Cape because The Man wanted to turn it into the Hamptons, a play ground for the affluent. I love the Kennedy’s inexplicable fondness for the non-rich.
That’s sad news…I’ve always enjoyed following the lives of the Kennedy’s! I do have to admit that it’s odd to think that a male Kennedy is going to leave this life and we’ll actually get a chance to say goodbye.
It was a shock to hear Sen. Ted was rushed to the hospital during the weekend and it is with sadness to hear the report of the diagnosis today.
I’m pretty sure he’s the first Kennedy man in quite some time who has actually exceeded his life expectancy.
Bobby was killed 40 years ago 6/6
Amazing civil servant, this man has spent so much time working for the people. My thoughts are with his family.
this is one of those “you know you are an adult moments….” I grew up in Ma and Sen Kennedy has ALWAYS been my Senator…this is really sad…but he is a fighter so I am sure he won’t go down without a battle
Daria do you hang on the Kip? (Cape for non-bahston speaking folks)
This is sad, but at least he got to live 30 years longer than the girl he killed in that car drowning. Maybe he will get some kind of miricle.
Now now Robert. We all know one shouldn’t fraternize with the Kennedy’s unless they have a death wish. Seriously, damn. Even without the two assassinations, they are a mess. Eunice’s kids (Maria Shriver and brothers) seemed to escape all the drama. Maybe that’s why every Kennedy started a charity to try to get rid of their curse. Eunice started Special Olympics after her father had her sister, a woman of average intelligence (this means she was so stupid by their standards that he sent her to live with his aide) lobotomized to control her mood swings. I’m sure mood swings would be a normal, healthy reaction to having your family pawn you off on some dude because you didn’t get good enough grades in prep school.
If nothing else, they should stop traveling by private plane since a handful of them have died that way.
I have admired Ted Kennedy for so long. So sad for the Kennedys. So sad. *tear*
I have always wondered how none of those Congress gangstas ever seem to have anything bad happen to them healthwise— all up in Congress eighty, NINETY years old??!?!? (Strom Thurman, Robert Byrd and all them 70+ year olds.) And all these presidents dying when they’re like a thousand? How you gonna have the most stressful job in the world and be chillin and jumpin out of airplanes at 80. I just don’t get it.
But oh yeah, so sad.
J LOL at you but what you are saying is so true. The physical transformation presidents go throught while serving is amazing.

It’s like 4 times the normal speed of aging during those years. Even Dubya looks way older.
The reason they probably live longer is because they keep their mind active, they don’t retire (= wait to die) and they have excellent health benefits. I’m pretty sure they’re required to go through certain exams that most insured Americans opt out of because no one wants some doctor’s hands all in their bits, nooks and crannies.
Wealthy people live longer as do well educated people so even if they weren’t in office, they’d still outlive most people.
Those in Congress and the supreme court beat the worst cancer odds though. Arlen Specter had something bad before and now he has lymphoma. Ruth Bader Ginsburg had a– cancer and she’s fine now.
