We're not usually the type to agree with the boomers who rant about how our youth are being polluted by a society that abuses sex in pop culture, but when seven-year-olds are behaving exactly like people do in the worst of rap videos, we have to admit that perhaps there's something to that argument.
Don't watch the video below if you don't want to begin your day with something awfully depressing.
They are getting from somewhere. I have never seen an Oasis video do something like that. So where?
Youtube. I haven't watched this vid (nor do I intend), but if it's not from TV, they see this stuff on Youtube. Like that rape dance thing. Kids imitate dance moves from Youtube. Oh, and Souljah Boy Tell Em, of course. And, Cord, there's nothing wrong with ranting about youth being polluted by a society that abuses sex in pop culture because it's true. Hell, I'm just glad there's no black Miley Cyrus…yet.
Who TF was just standing there with a video camera, not breaking this up? Odds are it wasn't another 2nd grader.
@divergentdana
The very same question occurred to me. My guess is that it was an older child–a tween or teen. I can't fathom an adult taping this.
Hell, I'm just glad there's no black Miley Cyrus…yet.
The black versions of Disney stars are always absurdly wholesome.
Raven Symone's white equivalent = Lindsay Lohan
Monique Coleman's white equivalent = the nudey shots girl from HSM.
Keke Palmer's white equivalent = Miley Cyrus
I know I can trust that Keke, Monique and Raven won't do drugs, flash their underwear-free crotches or take trampy pictures of themselves.
I won't comment on that picture. I'm just going to ignore it because my head will implode otherwise.
barf
The Children's Services Board needs to be called on every adult that was in the room. Anybody who can't see how wrong that is needs to be prohibited from being around children.
I would rather have my daughter watch the Disney girls (Monique Coleman, Cheetah Girls, Raven, Miley) because they are successful without having to degrade themselves or their community.
This subject is no laughing matter, but your title for this thread does make me chuckle.
I can't stand kids being too "grown."
This is why I could give a damn about folks who call me a snob for living in the burbs and sending my kids to private school………
@ Daria… how can you TRUST that these ladies won't do ??? whatever? maybe that is why so many others fail…other people's expectations. also why are these young ladies the "black version" or Black equivalent of another individual? not very progressive thinking IMO.
on topic- ew, SMDH, and those sound like adults or much older kids in the background cheering the young ones on.
Ugh, you're right this is depressing news.
@di-my-e: Disney applies different rules to different people. When it comes to their Britneys, Lindsays, Vanessas and Mileys, they basically let them do whatever they want.
I have never seen Monique, Keke or Raven look "grown." I believe Disney keeps them on a pretty short leash and their parents keep them on an even shorter one. Money + fame + youth can equal disaster. These 3 are squeaky clean.
As for the whole "white equivalent" thing I stated, it's basically in reference to the black stars that were doing big things at the same time. It's not to say that they have much in common. Raven and Lindsay actually lived together a few years ago. Both were Disney's golden girls.
Daria- You must see pics of Keke at her latest movie premier.
