Maxine Daniels, the (one would assume) rebellious daughter of George and Regina Daniels, who are long-time friends and business associates of R. Kelly, went to the Chicago Sun-Times offices yesterday to tell her side of the (barely) salacious saga. The way George and Regina, Kelly's former publicist, Kelly took advantage of their 20-year-old daughter, causing them to severe ties. The way Kelly tells it, the girl's parents not only knew about the relationship but encouraged it, and Regina was fired because she was incompetent. The way Maxine tells it, she takes full responsibility for her actions, even though R. Kelly sort of sucks. Don't we know it, girl.
"The statement that was issued by R. Kelly's camp to TMZ, which I interpreted as an attempt to defame Regina and George Daniels, my dad and stepmom, has made it necessary for me to respond to some of those accusations: I take full responsibility for my actions. My stepmother and father didn't know about my relationship with the singer because I knew and he knew that they wouldn't approve … so I tried to keep it a secret, but when my stepmother found out about our relationship, she resigned because she felt that Rob had 'crossed the line' by dating a girl that he has known since she was 7 years old. My stepmom was not fired for incompetence. She was Rob's publicist for 14 years and always considered Rob not just a client … but family. And Rob thought of my dad like a father.

I think this entire episode speaks to the pathology of R. Kelly and those who surround him. It speaks to the little regard we have for young black women.
Didn't any of them see that damn video? Even if they thought that the child on that tape was responsible for her actions, why would you allow your child around such a man?
I know. They thought they had raised their girl better than that. I guess they were wrong. If he can manipulate one underage child, what's to stop him from doing the same thing to a barely legal one.
For those who say that the parents should have known better than to let their child around an 'alleged child abuser.' They told themselves the same line that everyone else tells themselves when it comes to crime/and other bad stuff that happens in life - "it won't happen to me" or in this case, "R. Kelly wouldn't do that to us."
