At the 2000 Olympics, the U.S. won the men's 1,600 meter relay. That win doesn't matter much anymore, since the International Olympic Committee has ordered team members to give their medals back. Team member Antonio Pettigrew pulled a Marion Jones and admitted that he was doping at the time, and now everyone, including track superstar Michael Johnson (he's got medals to spare), has to hand over their golds. Johnson said he would willingly give up his medal and that he felt cheated and betrayed by Pettigrew's testimony. As for the other guys on the team, well, they can't really judge:
Three of the four runners from the relay final have been tainted by drugs. Alvin Harrison accepted a four-year ban in 2004 after admitting he used performance enhancers. Calvin Harrison tested positive for a banned stimulant in 2003 and was suspended for two years. Young was banned for life for doping violations.

Damn…
I'm not sure that I agree with this. If the IOC was not doing their job back in 2000 then that's on them.
Are they going to go back to the late 60's and 70's and 80's and take medels back from the East Germans and Russians? Nope. So why do it now.
I figured one of the twins were dirty. If I am not mistaken they are identical. During 2002-2004, one starts running very fast and the other was to far behind in to many races. If they are identical and train the same, they should be shoulder to shoulder in most of their races.
@Monie- The IOC have only recently begun testing for "the clear", a drug that a lot of T&F althletes were using to cheat. Marion Jones's former coach,Trevor Graham(long story) sent an annonmous sample to the IOC or UST&R.
Chic Noir,
I know but if they are going to take medals from these guys why not take medals from the East Germans and Russians?
There is now evidence that the East Germans and Russians were using Steroids as early as the 60's. In fact I just saw a show (either Frontline or Nova) on PBS about all the evidence and they even had some of the officials on admitting they gave the drugs to the athletes.
So I'm just wondering why they don't take their medals too.
good question Monie, I wonder if most of those althletes are still alive. I read about many of the women having a lot of health problems because of "the juice". I need to check that show out. If you have the tittle, can you post it.
Chic Noir,
The Show was Secrets of the Dead on PBS. The Episode was called Doping for Gold.
