Bob Johnson has gone from calling Obama a drug addict at a rally to calling his victory in the Democratic nominee race as "greater than the Emancipation Proclamation." As full of compliments as he was on CNN, it was clear that he had a very specific agenda: lobbying to get Hillary Clinton the vice president spot. Lots of supporters have been taking to the airwaves to make this suggestion, although critics are saying that publicly strong-arming Obama into picking Clinton as his running mate will make him look terribly weak if he actually does pick her. Meanwhile, it seems that she and her more vocal supporters believe the vice presidency is owed to her. Why don't they just lay off and handle this behind the scenes?
Meanwhile, Obama has appointed Caroline Kennedy, former Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder and "longtime Washington insider" Jim Johnson to committee that will vet a short list of VP candidates.
The thing that bothers me the most is the fact that so much attention is being devoted to Hillary right now and her refusal to concede is distracting everyone from one of the most important moments in American history. Her selfishness and hunger for power is completely overshadowing Obama on a day that people should be rejoicing in the fact that Americans are progressing and there is hope for a more united America. I hope that Obama will resist and not let Hillary strong arm him into making her his VP running mate. I truly believe that voters that are concerned about the state of this country and not just getting their favorite candidate on the ballot in November, will support Obama. I have many friends that supported Hillary, but I know that although they may be disappointed, they will still support Obama at the end of the day. Obama did not need Hillary to win the nomination and he will not need her to win in November.
TXGirl,
"I truly believe that voters that are concerned about the state of this country and not just getting their favorite candidate on the ballot in November, will support Obama."
That is the key- people who want what is in their best interest, specifically the "working class" who have their best interest at heart and not voting for a white person will vote for him. As far as the bigot vote, they were never his- only HRC actively pursued them.
Now as far as having her as VP, at one point their was still "hope" left that this could be but if he let's her control him now she always will! He can't do it even if he wanted to. He would always be her puppet!
I don't understand Hillary. She lost. Period. Concede and get out of the way. It was a hard fought battle and the best candidate won.
I agree with TXgirl,Obama's historic win is nothing more than a byline on all the major news sites. They all want to dissect Hillary's state of mind right now and her future plans and the possibly of her being VP.
And I wish Bob Johnson would crawl under a rock! NOW!
Chynadoll, there is enough space in those bags under his eyes to hide him.
forgive me for saying this but
I am would be very afraid for him if he made Hillary his VP. She is so hungry for power that she may do *anything*.
Yea, I said it Solitare ;(
James Carville works on her campaign and he said she wasn't going that route
Chic Noir I so agree with you! I think it was Chris Matthews that said"If she is V.P. I think Barack should get a food taster right away!" The Clintons are so sneaky and underhanded and so many people had deadly "accidents" when they crossed them I would seriously worry if I was Barack!
Under no circumstances should he give her the V.P. spot. At this point, she's just bullying her way onto the ticket and it would make him look weak. Don't think for a second that she doesn't want him to lose so that she can rise again in 2012.
I've lost all respect for the Clintons during this campaign. In fact, I've grown to despise them. If Obama does the impossible and gets the presidency, one of his primary goals should be to destroy the Clintons politically. They'll smile for the cameras, but they'll be doing everything behind the scenes to undermine him. They are dangerous for him.
Hillary will not be the VP. Period
Bob Johnson made a very grave mistake when he suggested that BO past drug use will come back to haunt him. Well Mr. Johnson, I do believe this will come back to haunt you! Mr. Johnson, it's perfectly acceptable to support whom ever you believe in but to dismiss our chance to see the first black man in the White House, well that's just ridiculous and surprisingly ignorant. Then to go on CNN and suggest BO place Billary on the ticket? Who the hell do you think you are! BO is going to be your president. Too bad you're not going to be apart of the history making. You'll be watching it in front of the TV like the rest of us! Dummy!!
@Just me, thank you. I thought I was the only who can recall reading the stories about the devious duo.
@Txgal- and not even on BET, as their is no more news on that channel.
Thanks Chic Noir re:"anything" because I've said that from the beginning of all this dream ticket crap. The Clintons are so damned egocentric that Hill couldn't avoid making it be about her. Eff history being made! I have never liked Bob Johnson and my contempt for him grows exponentially by the day. In the words of my homeboy, Charlie Brown–Good grief! He needs to sit down somewhere and tape his mouth shut so no more stupid crap falls out of it.
