Wherein you, the readers, talk amongst yourselves.
If you voted for Barack Obama, will you support Hillary Clinton in the general election if she wins the nomination? How about if you voted for Clinton and Obama wins the nomination? Why or why not?
I am voting for Obama but if he does not win I will vote for Hillary. Anything or one before McCain. I will chose the lesser of two evils. McCain has one hell of a temper, and I am afraid of the trouble he could get our contry into.
I truly do not understand the logic of those who will not support the winner and vote for McCain if their candidate does not win.
How can you do a complete 180 and vote for someone who views are totally different from yours? How can anyone be that selfish and allow the war to continue, not get any kind of National health care, just because they are a sore loser
When it comes to the issues, Clinton and Obama are not that different, the important thing is there is a democrat as the president
I don't know anyone who will vote for mccain over obama, but I do know some who say they'll stay home (i've even contemplated it), but who knows what will happen in november. by then ppl may think differently.
Staying home is the same as voting for McCain, either way, it lessons the chances of the democrat wining, your views being properly heard, and just being a sore loser.
All along, I've said I'll vote for whomever gets the democratic nomination, but not anymore. There's no way Hilary can win this without something hella shady going on, and if that happens, I will not vote for her.
BMD- We have had commenters on this site write that they would vote for Mccain instead of Clinton and vis versa. I call that cutting off your nose to spite your face.
tothemax, mahmud ahmadinejad said she you in a few months.
*M* you are so right! How can anyone complain if they don't bother showing up to vote. I am pro Obama, however, should Clinton STEAL his nomination, I will vote for Clinton, there is no way in heck I would switch to McCain because my democ. nominee didn't win!
*M*, I know you're right but there's no reasoning with die hards. It's apparently either pick my candidate or continue the Bush admin except now, the person in power actually believes this which is more dangerous than the status quo
Obama's my guy, but I'll vote for Hillary and even help out with the campaigning. After all, I have been living in the U.S. in the past 8 years under a republican administration. Plus, I don't have amnesia.
I like the goals of the democratic party and my value system is more closely aligned with the democratic party. With that being said, there is no way in Hell I'm voting for McCain. I really don't care who's on the ticket in November, I'll be voting democrat.
I think that those who won't vote or will vote for McCain if their person isn't elected are overly emotional and caught up in the hype. They need to get over it and focus on the fact that there is a dumb ass war going on, people are losing homes, the economy has gone to ish. These things result from policies set forth under republican rule.
Hillary Clinton is either delusional or a liar. I absolutely, without a doubt know that I have never been under sniper fire. There is no way that I can miss-speak and say that I was. With that said I will not vote for a delusional/ untruthful candidate.
The only possible scenario I can think of in which I would vote for Hillary is if Strom Thurmond came back to life and was the GOP candidate facing her in the general election.
And if Hilary weasels her way into the V.P. spot on the Democratic ticket I'll vote for McCain.
I really hope that your reasoning for not voting for Clinton is because you think she is delusional.
If you think that McCain, Obama or any politician that has gotten to the level of being considered for President isn't a liar, then you are the delusional one.
While I know that the "under fire" straight up lie was unreal and the lack of national press coverage even worse, lies are simply a part of politics.
If you think that McCain, Obama or any politician that has gotten to the level of being considered for President isn’t a liar, then you are the delusional one.
CO. SIGN.
A little perspective here though I know the only people hearing it are those who aren't unreasonable to begin with. You need to be worried about the economy, war, foreclosures. In the grand scheme of things, what matters is that these issues get fixed. I wish every president well because if they f— up, you and I are screwed. Even if it's McCain. On the war, it's a frickin draw right now because I don't see any wise decisions coming from anyone. They'll have to pull this off on economics and McCain probably can't do that. If he wins, I will still pray for him like I pray for Bush because their decisions impact MANY lives. There's a lot of fixing to do and I don't really care much who it is that does it. It just needs to be done. If by some miracle the dems prove to be incompetent and McCain adopts some major changes to his positions and plans, I would vote for him.
I agree that other candidates have lied. In this case though how do we know if Hillary is a liar or delusional? And if she is JUST a liar, then she must be a Pathological liar to tell the sniper story at least 3 times and tell it as though she believed it herself.
So whether she's just a liar or delusional I think she's unfit for the White House.
Seeing as how Obama is the presumptive nominee, anyone who calls themselves a Democrat and would vote against their interest simply because they're bitter Hillary didn't bring a competent campaign would deserve the same madness Bush II brought. Trying to hold the party hostage because of hurt feelings instead of rational thinking is pathetic.
Fundamentally, this is a non-issue because Obama is going to take it–I have faith in that–and also going to win in November. However, I'll say this: I have always wanted to support Hillary Clinton for president–since 1993, at least–and I had planned to until she started this heinous campaign she's run. Aside from the race-baiting, which is an entirely separate (though equally disturbing) issue, I no longer trust her to do anything she says; further, with the exception of universal health care, which I think is important but which is not my centerpiece issue, I'm terrified that she might be just as much, if not more, of a war hawk than McCain. Running off at the mouth as a presidential **candidate** about "obliterating" a nation that has yet to prove themselves a serious problem to AMERICAN national safety (not Israel's), is not wise. I think it was dumb and I think it spoke to how quickly she might be willing to pull the trigger as commander-in-chief and I don't trust it. If she managed to jack the nomination, I will go to that poll and proudly write Obama's name in as the candidate that stood for what I stood for. What I DONT need at 3 AM is to be so worried about a "historic slap" or a "slap" so hard America "won't be able to get on its feet again" that I can't get a wink of sleep.
Obama will get the nomination, but will go down in flames in november. I absolutely loathe his nutty supporters, so when this happens i'll be laughing my ass off somewhere near a computer.
Oh Solitaire, let's not be so cynical! Get back on that happy horse, my friend!
Listen, let's say that HRC is a liar, delusional, blah, blah, blah. To say that you would vote for a man who is an ex-POW, a man who has a bigger potential to be delusional and even suffer from horrible flashbacks, seems like jumping out of the frying pan, pausing to douse yourself in gasoline and then jumping into the fire.
Come November, you better vote and you better not vote for McCain.
I also fail to understand the logic in those who say they will vote for John Mccain if their choice (either Obama or Clinton) doesn't get the nomination. Stupid. When it comes to choosing in a presidential election (even when choosing between Obama and Clinton) it is about choosing, as someone stated, "the lesser of two evils." That being said, an article I read brought up a good point. Whoever gets the nomination has an uphill battle ahead of them in campaigning against John McCain. I don't care about the polls, or how much other Republicans claim to hate McCain. When you get down to it, it's still going to be either a woman or a black man campaigning against a white man. An article I read yesterday summed it up perfectly in one sentence.
"I will say this much about the Obama campaign: they ain’t see nothing yet. The stuff Hillary’s campaign has been throwing at them is softball compared to what they’ll be getting at the big show."
tothemax, that's how i feel too. After massive shadiness from the last two election cycles, i am done with it. it Clinton get the nomination, not only am I not voting for her, I'm getting out of the democratic party altogether.
i've seen a lot of talk amongst this threadbare and on this site in general about how much Obama supporters hate HRC and how much HRC supporters hate obama supporters, but not why they dislike obama. why is it? when i hear the reasons on the radio and tv they all tend to revolve around rev wright. while i understand (but don't agree) with the reasons why one would support HRC over obama, i'm not sure why her supporters (those who are not caught up in the rev wright issue) hate him so much.
I am SO sick of the insults toward Obama supporters. Every candidate has wacky supporters including McCain so what's the real problem???? Good grief! You are so busy calling Obama supporters crazy, who is to say that you aren't the wacky Hillary supporters? I'm not saying that but I am saying enough already with the cheap shots!!! Again, there are wacky people that have supported each of the candidates!
Sasha and M, there is a such thing as principles! If you believe that the Clinton camp is race baiting (which is DISGUSTING!) and you chose not to vote for her NOT as a sore loser but to show her and the Democratic Party that you will not take it and you will NOT be used and cast aside for political gain right in your face then I believe you should not vote for her. I for one, will NEVER because that is how I feel. I will not stay home though. I will write my candidate in.
I beleive that the Democratic Party assumes they can do what they will with AA's and we will support them as always. I do NOT feel that it is pathetic to take a stand. I do however, realize that all AA's don't believe as I do but I do not insult them as some on this site regularly do! I don't understand why some Clinton supporters have to go there with all the insults etc when you do agree with them!
Your right Anon, there is such a thing as principles. and if your principles are ending the war in Iraq, a better economy, a change in health care, a new foreign policy, equal rights for all. Then you are not standing by those principles by voting for the opposition or not voting at all. Obama principles is about change, things will stay the same if you stay at home. Writing in is a novel idea, but that wont change a thing, its like voting for Nader (see 2004 election)
People forget, that when it comes to the issues, they are not that different, regardless of the nominee for, your same principles are going to be presented. If either candidate stands for anything, they will set aside this fighting, unite the country and pick the other as VP. You cant lose with that, unless people stay bitter on both sides.
I agree with you,M. I differ, however in believing that things will remain the same if AA's allow the Democratic Party to use them as pawns. It may hurt short term but in the long run I would love to see AA's get the respect that is deserved!
I USED to be a person that voted for the Democratic nominee- whoever that was. To be honest, I'm even ashamed to admit that it never really matter that much to me who it was b/c they are all basically the same. In this case, as you pointed out BHO and HRC may be very similiar. I just feel as if it is my obligation as an American to make it clear that we should not have to accept this in politics! We fight against these type issues everywhere else so why not in politics. I think (as Americans) should all get the respect we deserve. Again, while I understand that not all AA's believe the same as I do with regard to the race baiting, and not all will chose to react the same as me but respectfully I will NEVER vote for Clinton or anyone else that IMO so boldly disrepect AA's. NEVER!

as someone stated, “the lesser of two evils.”
That would be me :).
In life, we often have to chose between the lesser of two evils.
I agree with you, it will be an uphill battle for with Hillary or Barack.
AMB- Her comment about Iran worried me too but I think I know why she said it. As a woman, she wants to appear tuff.
I have always wondered what it would be like to have a parliamentary system.
Its funny how many of us are talking about not voting but I bet if the powers that be were talking of taking the right to vote away from us tomarrow all hell would break lose.
I don't agree that Obama is going to lose in November. Many Republican friends/family are very disillusioned with McCain and are either too apathetic to vote or have moved to Obama.
McCain has gotten a free pass from the media the past few months, as they focused on the Obama/Clinton fracas, so his vacation will be over soon. He has plenty of problems of his own (flip-flopping beliefs, questionable Christian Pastors of his own, scandals/unethical behavior benefiting supporters or lobbyists), and honestly, his association with Bush has been polled to be a GREATER liability than Obama's Wright situation.
Just like we have gotten used to Hillary's baggage over the years (can you believe she turned that to her political advantage of her being "vetted"? ingenious!), by the time November rolls around no one will care about silly old Wright. Obama will win and will be the next president.
I am voting for Obama but if he does not win I will vote for Hillary. Anything or one before McCain. I will chose the lesser of two evils. McCain has one hell of a temper, and I am afraid of the trouble he could get our contry into.

I don't hate either one at all. I do hate Obama's outspoken and generally whiny cult, not to be confused with Obama's sane supporters.
