The family members of the four teenage boys accused of raping, sodomizing, and torturing a Haitian immigrant and her son in Dunbar Village, their West Palm Beach housing project, are trying to turn their boys into the Jena Six. The Dunbar Village Four? It ain't happening. Despite the uproar over the brutalized victim's rights in this case, even Al Sharpton attended an NAACP news conference in West Palm Beach three weeks ago, during which he complained that the Dunbar Village boys were being held without bond while white teenagers accused of raping two white girls in Boca Raton were free on bail. According to the Baltimore Sun, "In the Boca Raton case, the five white teenagers are accused of sexually assaulting two middle-school students after the group of seven engaged in a night of drinking Jan. 1." Two very different scenarios.
Sharpton says that he wasn't arguing for the black boys to be freed, he was arguing that if the black boys were being held without bond, the white boys should be, too. That sounds like some after-the-fact clean up, but whatever. It's not the time to rally around a group of sadistic rapists. Is it ever that time? If the family members are hoping to get the nation behind their boys like the Jena Six, who have already fallen out of favor with many who initially supported them, they're crazy. At this point, they should be at home, working on trying to keep their other kids from following down the same path. [BS]
I would pay money for Al to just sit down somewhere. The horrific nature of the crime might justify that the young men be held without bond. If I lived in that community I wouldn't want them out on bail, that's for sure.
And I KNOW the mother of one of the defendants did not have nerve to say "I don't think we should have to suffer." Tell that to the mother and son who suffered irreperable damage at the hands of one of your children.
These monsters should be locked up beneath the jail. Fuck them and Al Sharpton too.
Can people focus on what's important here??! Al Sharpton is trivializing what has happened here by placing focus squarely where it doesn't belong and reinforcing that stereotype that we are always speaking up for the dumbest rights. This is like the stupid politicians who waste time writing laws about non-issues, such as baggy jeans, etc.
The Jena 6 and this case couldn't BE more different from each other.
*exasperated sigh*
I think that is the point, naoke.
What they did to that woman and her son is beyond words. Where do 14 and 16 boys learn such brutality. If I was the mother of one of those boys there is know way I could accept him in my house again.
Call me a monster or a bad mother if you want but I could not do it.
I can't stand Palow The Don but he has one thing right, our young boys need fathers(IN THE HOME).
Chic Noir….
I'm with you.
If my child committed something so heinous, I would want to keep him in jail to protect him from me.
Where did these boys learn to be so depraved and cruel?
And why isn't any "leader" interested in asking them why?
