I will be watching the debate tonight. I hope Barack wins, but I am eager to see what John McCain is going to do, since he wasn't supposed to be here tonight.

I never understood what people mean when they say "winning" a debate, but I'm hoping this debate puts the issues on the table.

The debate format rarely affords candidates the opportunity to make substantial points, so I'll mainly be watching the composure of the two candidates.

this is going to be one hell of a catfight…

for some reason my stomach is jumping like i'm the one debating, lol. it's like watching the Superbowl or the NBA Championship or something. i have my assumptions that Obama is going to KILL IT, and that John McCain will come with more of the same rehearsed mots. i could be wrong though, McCain might bring some fiyah tonight. :blinks: hehe

Is it just me, or is McCain speaking in a lot of vague terms and unverifiable claims? Obama is definitely making more sense to me so far.

are you seeing McCain's body language Jason? i ask you because you once mentioned composure. do you see how he is clenching his jaw and shifting from foot to foot? i think he is pissed! Obama is most def making more sense.

The green line follows the blue one. Good stuff, he is gaining independence.
I get confused when McCain speaks, im not sure what he is talking about.
Obama is talking it point by point.

Obama is callin' McCain OUT on his inconsistencies- it's nice to see we're having actual debates again instead of a series of mini speeches devoid of counterpoints.

and wow- it ain't that hard to say Ahmadinejad, John. You would think you'd learn how to say the name of foreign leaders if you're a federal politician.

I agree. McCain is loosing me…going around the side of the house to get to the back room. Barack is much more clear and is making a point everytime he speaks….

whew! watching as i type. Obama is definitely busting chops! McCain keeps bringing up the same ol' stuff… "im a maverick, im a maverick" …
obama is keeping his cool, (jim, tom, flubs aside) and making far more sense.

Was it just me, or did McCain compare Obama to Bush at the end? ("We've seen this stubbornness before")

well MsMee #26, that is McCain's only strategy. stay on the offensive. (ATTAAAACCCCCCKKKKKKK!!!!!) from the sappy stories, to using his military experience, so-called nicknames in Washington, and whatever else to get a "win".

When McCain talked about his 875489698 different nicknames, I swore he was going to say "They call me Mr. Tibbs!"

I can't wait for the Biden/Palin debate.

#27 He certainly did attempt to compare him to Bush. Did you see how Barak looked at him when he said it…like he was thinking for real dude, you're really going to try to make that comparison!

Obama definitely won this debate. Any time Obama went on the offensive and called out McCain's specific records and policies, McCain responded with condescension and folksy, insubstantial anecdotes. Obama made stronger, more concrete points and behaved with greater poise and composure.

ALL THE PUNDITS ARE SAYING THAT MCCAIN WON! OR THAT IT WAS A DRAW! AND THAT OBAMA DIDN'T CONNECT!

WTF!

Look I would have been the first person to say that Obama messed up, but really? To me, to have a presidential candidate who won't even acknowledge the presence of another presidential candidate is UNACCEPTABLE!

What the hell is going on in our country y'all?

I saw some analysts give the victory to Obama. Naturally, Fox News declared that McCain won by a landslide.

Well, my hubby and I thought that while Obama lost, McSame did not win, simply because Barack proved himself to be worthy of the highest office but did not attack him enough so we were worried about how others would perceive him. But when looking at the polls, it looks like the American public thought Obama won. Our conclusion: Our expectations for our cerebral nom was very high. I don't think that this debate will make much of an impact. I think the debate next Thursday between Biden and Palin will solidify Obama's victory. I can't wait for that bloodbath. I too was annoyed by McSame never even looking at Barack during the whole debate. He seemed really arrogant, not even thinking Barack was worth an acknowledgement. That's OK, after 11/4 we'll never see him again.

No clear winner, but I'd say that Obama was more effective. But I will admit that I wasn't satisfied with his response to how he'd "cut spending" (He didn't specify anything). And if I hear another story from McCain… I swear I'll assassinate his wrinkly ass, lol. Overall… it was kinda boring. I just can't wait for the VP debate (they really need to start preppin Palin, cuz Biden's gonna tear her Alaskan ass up!).

I was asking my wife the same thing… "What or WHO is he looking at???". He was coached until the brakes fell OFF that's for sure. The man has a very narrow lane people… and he's doing his damnedest to stay in it. Unfortunatly, Sara Palin is pretty much going to be that drunk cousin in the backseat who keeps disrupting you. It was clear that Obama was the more articulate, and genuine of the two.

The same lines pretty much rolled off their lips but there were some good exchanges. It's just frightening to see how many people buy into McCain's ticket… and they do it KNOWING he's not the ONE. As one previous poster put it… "it's okay, after November we won't have to worry about it".

I think Barack Obama won. He stood up for himself and spoke out more against John McCain during the debate. I didn't like it when John McCain talked so long, not giving Barack or even Jim Lehrer the time to talk. While watching this debate, it still makes me wonder, why did he first want to cancel it? Was he scared?

McSame was long winded and kept talking about how long he's been in congress and was veryvague while Obama hit him with examples and comments that was straight facts even some coming from McSame own camps to me he got what it takes to be president and last night he showed he can handle it.

Barrack won. I liked the part when Barrack said he agreed with McSame about getting us out of debt but how can we trust his methods if he voted with Bush on the issue which got us in debt in the first place. That was hilarious. I cant wait for Biden and Palin debate. It wouldnt surprise me if she showed up with flash cards and an earpiece. LOL!!! OBAMA 08!!!!!!
