Why, I love all kinds of music, especially songs/artists that I can relate to. I'm guess I'm very much a "Top 40" kind of person when it comes to the music I like, but all the artists I listed have albums I just love to listen to.
I'll just give condense it down & give you my top 10 & I'm showing my age here.
1. Songs in the Key of Life-Stevie Wonder (?, bought it in 2000)
2. Sign O' The Times-Prince (1987)
3. janet.-Janet Jackson (1993)
4. Crazysexycool-TLC (1994)
5. Boyz II Men-II (1994)
6. Secrets-Toni Braxton (1996)
7. Maxwell's Cool Hang Suite-Maxwell (1996)
8. Baduizm-Erykah Badu (1997)
9. Butterfly-Mariah Carey (1997)
10.Acoustic Soul-India.Arie (2001)
Most of these I bought as tapes & later as CD's that I have literally burned out. *sigh* Thanks for this nostalgic post Lauren.
Oh yeah, reason why these albums: I'm very much a R&B/Soul kinda girl, I grew up in the '90s & this is a small representation of what I listened to back then.
5) More Hits By The Supremes (1965)
Before The Supremes became all about "Miss Ross" with actual 3 part harmonies, two of their most legendary #1 hits, and The Motown Sound in full swing (despite the fact that 3 songs were Mary Wells Handmedowns from late 1963/Early 1964).
4) The Elegant Sounds of The Royalettes (1966)
Because the productions are so overblown, overly dramatic, it, to me sounds like if the 2nd version of "Imitation of Life" (1959) had a soundtrack, particularly "Can't Stop Running Away"
3) Ev'rythings Coming Up Dusty (1965)
The best blue eyed soul drag queen act on record, starting with an Aretha Franklin cover that (Gasp!) trumps Aretha Franklin (Won't Be Long).
2) The Four Tops 2nd Album (1965)
Because it's such an unassuming collection of random tracks in the vault, but deserves spins every summer
1) Watchout! Martha & The Vandellas (1966)
Listen to "Keep It Up" "No Tearstained Makeup" "I'm Ready For Love" and "He Doesn't Love Her Anymore" nuff said.
Amy Winehouse Back to black- songs that saved my life
Lily Allen All right still- fun songs
Mika Life in Cartoon motion- Fun songs
Mark Ronson Version- Genius among us, such a smart, creative album
Kaiser Chiefs Yours Truly, Angry Mob- truth of social class and life.
Spice Spice Girls- The hight of my childhood when they were around.
Arctic Monkeys Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not- Alex Turner is a very smart songwriter, his very strong Sheffield accent is something to get use though. But once you do, best songs you will ever hear.
Chrisette Michelle(I AM)-I LOVE EVERY SONG on this CD. Every song spoke to how I felt, articulated every thought I've had, etc. This CD is always an musical experience for me. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THIS ALBUM YOU ARE MISSING OUT!
Raheem DeVaughn(Love Experience)- He brought it with this album. I consider this album his classic, lol. (Love Behind the Melody) is not touching this album. (Love Experience) is pure musical eargasm with every song for me.
Usher(Confessions)-This album was his classic. He can't/ won't top this album, especially making songs like "love in this club." (Confessions) was almost flawless. I can't even express what this album does for me.
Those are three albums I can play on repeat day in and day out. One day it will be 2035 and I will still be listening to these albums.

Ooops, y'all. For Suzanne Vega, the *right* name title is "Nine Objects of Desire," not "Nine Wishes." Mine are "Hounds of Love" and "The Sensual World.")
My most precious CD because the artists seemed to have really suffered it and I like that. If you get lots of money for singing and playing you should really work hard and this album sounded like it was really difficult. The End.
