She didn't give me up at birth

She's my Rock! always there when I need her

No matter what I do, she still loves me. Unconditional love is rare and amamzing. My mother is the most wonderful person in my life.

She's an iconoclast.

My mom's brilliance, and tied to that, her utterly laser-sharp sense of humor.

She has the kindest and most open heart out there.

I will especially respect my mom's ability to hold our family together when ish tries to pull us apart. I appreciate her all-around fierceness only a sister can bring. I appreciate her introducing me to Grace Jones and Nona Hendryx. But what i most appreciate - other than, you know, love and stuff - are her sweet potato pies at Christmas and Thanksgiving. Damn.

I have a very close relationship w/ my mom even to this day & I'm so thankful that she has put up with me for all these years & continues to love & support me & my siblings in all that we do. She is truly my epitome of a resilient, & beautiful black woman.

raising us alone. it definitely wasn't part of her plan and her life would be much better if she never married my father but when life handed her barrels and barrels of lemons, she made lemonade.
