Wherein you, the readers, talk amongst yourselves
An article in the New York Times today tells the story of young Kierstyn Cyrus, a former resident of New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward whose home was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, and her quest to find a beloved scrapbook she lost in the storm. The point: sometimes the small keepsakes are the hardest things to lose.
I'm just a single girl who lives in a small NYC studio, but the things I would have to bring with me if I had to evacuate quickly are my puppy, my laptop (of course!) and my photo albums. What are the things you wouldn't be able to leave behind?
I have a fireproof safe, its grab and go..in it - my marriage certificate, discs of my pictures, insurance policies, birt certs of my kids, I update the discs every few months, oh, and a list of financial info, accounts etc…hmmm I probably need to scan in my wedding pics, oh yea, I need to add a extra copy of my wedding dvd
My music
My laptop, a couple of books, passport, my notepads and scrapbooks that I use for story ideas, my mp3, my makeup collection. Replacing lost MAC, Benefit and Clarins products is not cheap in the UK
Narrowing it down: notepad, mp3 and lipgloss.
My dog. Everything else, while it would be missed, just doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.
My passport (I figure I can all the other docs later with my passport).
We have a file of all of our financial stuff so I'd grab that, my cat, my makeup kits, my laptop, pictures, our wine collection and my purse collection.
Yea, I'd probably die while packing up my purses. LOL.
BMD - have pics of my purses so I can file insurance claims for them!!!!!
pix of my mom and my photo album, my folder thingie with my important papers and pix of other family members. other than that i would make sure i had clothes on and real shoes!
