It's not so much of a concern for the car-less masses here in NYC, but what have you guys been doing to avoid blowing your entire paycheck at the gas station?
I live in L.A. and just ordered an E-zip, an electric bicycle, so in about a week, I should be able to bike to work 6 miles and a few hills away without needing a shower when I get there. Very excited.
Well I have to drive to work, but I walk or use public transportation for everywhere else. No more joy-rides for me which sucks cause I got a convertible.
I don't joy ride as much (ie drive to a spot just to see what changed)
Don't go out as much (avoid parking, drinks, and random costs)
Don't eat out as much
Water instead of wine
Carpool once a week
Cuss uncontrollably like I have turrets when I fill up at the gas station.
right now I am sacrificing banana split trail mix from The Fresh Market since it is all the way across town. I am anxiously awaiting another reason to visit this area of town such as to warrant the expense =-)
I live in DC, so the Metro works for me. It amazes me that there are people who have never used the Metro here.
I didn't learn to drive until I was 22, and I probably won't own a car until I'm 30. My hope is that by the time I'm ready to get a car, I'll have the option to buy one that doesn't use gas at all.
I take the bus to work every day, I take the bus to the store and to the bar. It runs till 3 am on fri. and sat. With my old university id I get to ride for free. Greatest deal ever.
I drive to work unfortunately, thankfully my job is only 15 mins away from the home, I do feel bad for those in the suburbs though…*sighs* We should all just go on strike, who can live like this?
walking, riding bikes, carpooling, and all that shit. Which is what I've always done before the energy crisis, anyway.
I picked a BAD time to leave NYC…damn, I miss my Metrocard! Gas is way too high these days!
mertrocard,feet.
I only live 5 miles away from job :)!!
>my
I do not have a car, but it baffles me how my college student friends so freely drive, when the bus is free for us.

Don't go out unless my friends are driving. Except for work… but my job's about 5 miles away.

RhymesWithSilver: I am just learning to drive. Picked a f-ing horrible time because no one wants to take me out so I can practice.
