I'm a bit of a political junkie and I found this election pretty exciting.
I'm contemplating on never voting again. In order for something good to happen, there has to be a good turnout. My fellow Americans really scare me at times. And I'm not all that concerned about the anti-Obamas either. I've seen bizarre behavior in previous elections.
It just worries me how things like Chinese-made lapel pins and gays take precedence over
1. the war in Iraq,
2. our provoking Iran,
3. our love affair with Israel,
4. telecom surveillance,
5. healthcare, education, and
6. the economy
I'm only interested in politics because I'm concerned with what is morally right and wrong. So I care about things like war, genocide, Israel, civil rights, capital punishment, etc. Besides that it's been interesting seeing how the media covers this election. I am very happy about Obama as a Black person though.
I have been interested in politics since before I've been old enough to vote. This political season will be the second presidential election I have been elegible to vote for, and quite seriously, I am scared.
I am afraid that the tactics that will end up being used by the McCain campaign and other conservative outlets will be far dirtier than anything we have experienced. And we thought "Swiftboat veterans for truth" was dirty politics, i am afraid we haven't seen anything yet.
But I am quite excited, and looking around, I see a lot more people are too, since Obama seems like such a breath of fresh air to people who had become jaded (young and old) with the process.
I am interested in politics but the news people have turned me off with their endless sweating of the small stuff and rotation of sound bites. The soundbites are used to shock, awe and nanger more than inspire thinking.
Instead of selling hot dogs a SF black woman holds up a sign that says "Meet A Black Person" to tourists. There aren't many black people in SF so people take pics with her.
i can NOT for my own good, become too interested in politics. i can't stomach the bullskeet of it. i do keep up with the issues and conspiracy theories, though.
I can't tell you when I got bitten by the political bug maybe it's because of how I was raised. But I still remember when I was eligible to vote in the mid 90s as if it was yesterday and my excitement to cast my vote.
This election season has taken my excitement for politics to another level - Thanks Obama!
Anyway, Also, many people mentioned this in their blog posting. A hot debate related to this topic is taking place at Richromances.com now among hollywood celebrities'and wealthy people.

or..he. Not sure.
BMD that site is not working for me, can you tell me what I would see.
@Anonymiss: It's lapel wearing gays that cause those 6 things you mentioned. Duhhh.
I'm definitely interested in politics. It's frustrating when you see people that just don't *get it*
Darn!

Yea, doesn't sound too funny when I describe it.

@ K.I.M.,
I feel you on the not "getting it" part.
@ BMD,
I wonder if she got the idea from this dude.

Less interested. Hate election years, mostly because of the media, not really because of the candidates.
