Wherein you, the readers, talk amongst yourselves.
In a new study from the Parents Television Council and the very-anti-Viacom group, Enough is Enough, researchers find that BET and MTV show adult content — sex, violence, obscenity or profanity — every 38 seconds and go so far as to call the networks "predatory." Do you agree with this assessment? Do you watch any programs on MTV or BET? Which ones? Do you/will you let your children watch?
Heck no! I stopped watching MTV many moons ago when it stopped being about music. I kicked BET to the curb, also many moons ago, when they decided an animated, ish-talking, ignorant "VJ" was worthwhile and relevant enough to grace my tv screen.
I watch Run's House and Making the Band on MTV. My child's 4. He can watch Run's House, but that's about it.
I got out of the habit of watching BET when my community blocked it thru my old cable provider. though i've switched providers, i never really thought about BET anymore.
Don't watch BET. Stopped watching it around the time that The Way It Is had its season (or maybe series) finale. Should've stopped watching it years ago.
It's such trash. If it weren't for my BF's love for sports channels, I'd cut cable off. I don't watch a lot of TV and Netflix is a better alternative.
Predatory? _Predatory?_

I stopped watching years ago, back when I was in school (around 2001 I believe). Have you ever seen that episode of the Boondocks where Huey watched "Black TV" for days and Riley actually ended up calling him dumb. Yeah, that's how I felt.
I'll choose my History/Discovery/Learning channel, Animal Planet & Cartoon Network over BET or MTV any day.
Well "predatory" may be a bit too harsh, but some shows should be pulled off such as BET's "College Hill." That's the best show on BET (only becuz there's a bunch of ghetto/crazy-ass nigg**s, actin a fool). Other shows like Flavor of Love, Rock of Love (I think that's the title?), Real World and all those god damn Top Model re-runs, can be removed as well. In the 90s I grew up watching Nikelodeon (when it was GREAT, it suz now) and Disney. I only watched MTV & BET to listen to music and learn some dance moves. Now… u can barely watch a full video. The kids today are truly missing out on good, innocent TV.
We had a rhyme when I was in college:
"At the fitness center, 7:43
57 white kids watching BET"
While BET's usefulness didn't really extend beyond the gym, we watched it there because they played actual music videos instead of whatever crap was on MTV. You can't exercise to people having drunken sex on "The Real World XXIII", but Jay-Z is great on the treadmill. Other than serving up hip-hop, I couldn't see how BET served the black community.
BET is no longer a quality network, it's time for a revamp
