In a nutshell, a investigation found that Sarah Palin did indeed unlawfully abused her power by exerting pressure to get her ex-brother-in-law, Trooper Michael Wooten, fired. However, she was within her right as governor to fire the state's public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan, even if his failure to get rid of Wooten was one of the reasons for his termination.
