We're All The Same Color When You Turn Out The Lights
Scratch That -- We're All Niggers, According to Nas

grammys_nas.jpg
Nas has released the first single from his controversial upcoming album, "Nigger," and it should come as no surprise that it's called "Be a Nigger, Too."

A sample:

"Not mad cause Eminem said Nigger/Cause he’s my Nigger/Wigger/Cracker friend/We all black within/ We all African within/Some Africans don’t like us no way/A killing happened in Johannesburg yesterday.”

All right. In the song, Nas also shouts out "Kike Niggers," "Spic Niggers," "Guinea Niggers," and "Chink Niggers," since apparently we're all in this together. I keep expecting/hoping for some semblance clarity whenever he speaks about the album, but all I get is… this. Who's buying this? Pas moi. [AHH]

I can't even put into words how disappointed I am with him.

This mess doesn't even make any sense.

I blame Kelis (why not?).

I'm going to go erase this from my memory.

Don't blame Kelis. She did vow to honor and obey…
If that were my husband though, I'd have to tell that nig… negro about himself.

There was so much potential for an album with a name like that and a song like that to have some kind of coherent argument about how we, people of color, can unite and rise as one. Or about how we as people (all of us having come from Africa - one drop rule anyone?) can unite and move forward together.

However, that would unfortunately require some articulation, of which Nas is clearly incapable.

*Sigh*

After reading the comments, I'm scared to listen. I'm gonna have to cosign Barbelle. Yeah — why not?

I love Kelis but her husband needs to go. I expect so much more from him. I mean we all need money but we should also have limits in how far we are willing to bend.

He just seems like he's grasping for attention. It's a shame that either he can't top his debut album Illmatic, or no one will let him, so he has to resort to this foolywang nonsense.

People have been telling him for years that he is the best rapper in the game. I think he feels he can say anything. I feel Nas is a hypocrite and I thought the song wasn't very good. I don't understand why he wants to embrace such an ugly word. You don't hear other racial groups embracing derogatory words and trying to make it positive. He really needs to wake the hell up.

Meanwhile the kikes, spics, guines and chinks continue to laugh at us. So fucking lame.

Nas is a very very very silly man.

Notice there are several black people and an Asian girl wearing his gear splashed with the N-word. Either NAS didn't think the world was ready for it, or the white guy never made it to the event!

Love the Eminem and Aston Martin mentions. If someone called me a Nigger and I had a nice ride and famous rich friends to roll with, I'd probably make an album, about it too. But since I'm not, this song sucks, and I'm not going to buy the album in hopes that maybe someday Nas will go broke, and remember what it's like being called when you don't have riches or fame to validate you.

Now I'm white, so i might not have a right to say whether or not he should have used the word the way he did. I think Nas has been trying to seem like an intellectual or "backpack" rapper for his last 4 albums. Though he might not be a scholar or someone to learn from I think he is trying to provide information through his songs. With that said… i think the point that he is trying to make is that we all came from the same people in africa, the aborigines. Maybe the title nigger would have been more fitting for an album with songs like "I CAN" on it.
