"Here again, words cannot convey my abiding appreciation, my deep gratitude for the man who allowed me to express myself: before BET, before NPR, before PBS, before PRI (Public Radio International), before my New York Times best selling books, before my own imprint, SmileyBooks, before my High Quality Speakers Bureau, before … well, I think you get my point."
What Tavis Smiley Meant:
"Look at all of the marvelous things I've done! How could you not care? How could you betray me this way? Clearly, I needed all of you to love me so badly, and my ego drove me off the Tom Joyner show when you stopped. However, I'm forever grateful to Tom Joyner for helping me become more famous than he is. Did I tell you I'm famous? Like, really, really famous. And I've written lots of books. You're going to regret criticizing me, black people!"
Yeah, Tavis was really on his sack with his comments, LOL!
I am grateful that Tavis proved that while mediocrity may excel, egotism typically repels.
He cannot even say thanks without running down his resume, which, by the way shows Tom Joyner's influence and respect — not Tavis'. If TJ had not given TS' mediocre behind a chance he would never have had those opportunities to underwhelm us. Good riddance to bad rubbish, and for the record, I am an undecided voter, not too impressed by any of the remaining politicians.
