Gwen Ifill, senior news correspondent for NewsHour with Jim Lehrer and moderator and managing editor of Washington Week, was on Meet the Press this weekend and discussed the mercurial nature of the Democratic race, and how everyone needs to watch their words. Voters are sensitive — to the point that the slightest hints of racism or sexism could morph into something powerful enough to swing the entire election. Do you feel extra sensitive about your candidate of choice?
Umm…I think certain arguments here over the past few months answer your question, Lauren.
Ha! I contemplated putting a winking emoticon after the question.
I'm trying really hard to stay away from political discussions right now, but it's really hard.
Me, too. It helps that I actually have been getting some gigs lately and I'm not at home on the net all day.
Funny that she says this while on a panel with three other white men. But she is right.
It's nice to see well spoken, intelligent black women on television.
Luv Gwen Ifill! I schedule my Friday nights around her show. (cuz I'm geeky like that). BTW, speaking of sensitivity, any one catch Hillary on 60 min the other night talking about her "health secrets": 1. drink lots of water 2. eat lots of chili peppers. Not "hot sauce," not "pepper" but "chilis". Appealing to the sensitive palates of the latino vote perhaps?
Eating 'lots' of chili peppers sounds like a health nightmare to me. Shitting and skin break-outs.
Damn, HRC just can't catch a fucking break can she? I hope we go this hard at the repubs. sometimes I feel like some dems want to defeat the clintons more than they care about anything else. I have the distinct feeling that we won't fight this hard against the outsiders (repubs) as we are fighting against those in out own party.
Note: not all chili peppers are deathly hot. There are diff varieties. Poblano chilies are very mild for example.
