Here's where the white supremacists start worrying about how blacks, Latinos, and Asians are taking over "their" country. New census data indicates that the United States will be majority non-white by 2042, which is eight years earlier than previous estimates. The study also says that the non-white "Hispanic" population (with all of its nebulousness) will double to 30 percent by 2050 — right now, 45 percent of Americans under the age of five are Hispanic.
All other non-white groups are expected to grow over the next 42 years, but not nearly at the rate of the Hispanic population. All in all, remember that, while the various percentages of non-white groups will add up to more than the percentage of whites, it doesn't mean that whites will be the "minority." There will still be more whites in this country than any other racial group, unless "not white" becomes a race by 2050. Feel better, supremacists? [MSNBC]

You know they're PO'd. They're hoping that an Obama presidency will recharge their movement, I mean counter-culture.
That makes no sense, because many Latinos ARE white, brown, and black, and/or mixed. "Latino" is not a racial term– its an ethnic term. big difference.
Here is something that has been left out of this narration. This was part of the NY Times article on this subject:
They are forgetting that "race" is very fluid (when you are not black that is) and groups that have traditionally not been considered to be 'white' (such as Italians and Irish) were eventually socially allowed into whiteness. The same will be the case for Latinos and even Asians (especially those of mixed Asian/white decent)

When they say Hispanic they mean Mexican. It's basically the influx of Mexicans that is causing the trend. And I agree that Latino nor Hispanic is not a race but for political reasons it is classified as such.
The point of the classification Hispanic was so that one day they, Hispanics, would out number Blacks and therefore usurp Black political power, at least that was what Richard Nixon was thinking when he ordered the government to begin using Hispanic as a classification it back in the 70's.
Why are they releasing this now when it's *supposed* to happen 34 years from now? Because it's intended to play on the fears of whitefolk who are afraid of being "overtaken" by coloredfolk, that's why. Translation = VOTE FOR MCCAIN WHILE THERE'S STILL A WHITE MAN IN THIS COUNTRY TO VOTE FOR! Just in time for the election. Shameless. SMH
@ Monie, it's true it's Mexicans in the border states who are propelling this trend, but here in the Metro NY area, it's large numbers of folks from evvvvvery Latin American country — Ecuador, Guatamala, Brazil, Chile, DR…— who are greatly changing cities' racial percentages (mostly with high birth rates.) I'm not quite sure how Puerto Ricans are counted in this number since they are technically American to begin with, but when they stay in this country, they, too, are a very big factor here.

"Whites" have nothing to worry about. In 2042 white latinos, and eurasians will swell their numbers right back up to the majority.
Blacks, and everyone they mix with will be just as fucked as they are now. Same status quo, different year.
Racial demographics, always an interesting subject that's bound to get someone riled up and pissed off.
