Woman To Woman: The Tyra And Hillary Story

The Tyra & Hillary moment is here! It’s no surprise that Hillary Clinton is on stage for a full minute before Tyra allows her to speak, and it was only because Hill interrupted. They spent the first part of the segment discussing Hillary’s “vulnerability,” which is certainly not something a male candidate would have been forced to talk about. On the other hand, this entire visit seems to be orchestrated as an appeal to female voters. So it fit.

After the vulnerability bit, Tyra gets down to the heart of the election — “Do you wish Oprah was there for you?” The question was so stupid, because:

a)The woman has Bob Johnson stumping for her and making an ass of himself, of course she does

b) Who cares?

Props for Hillary for basically saying that supporters are nice but they don’t follow you into the Oval Office. Minus points for later countering, “Well, Maya Angelou’s for me.” All in all, is it more or less hard to watch than Obama’s Tyra interview in October? Before you answer that, check out the infidelity Q&A after the jump.

Preview: “Were you embarrased?” asks Tyra. “I would be embarrassed.”

Tyra, you need to stop. Someone needs to be hired to write these questions. You can ask the same thing but the way you phrase it is important. This is not her first offense. It’s a daily problem.
Why is she mad at “Talk Soup” and “Best Week Ever” for featuring her weekly? She gives them great material.

…but it was better than Obama’s. I couldn’t even finish watching that one.

Tyra is the second most embarrassing woman on TV. Number one: Sherri Sheppards. Seriously, y’all shut put some video clips of that fool.

I actually feel bad for Hillary Clinton. That she went to talk about her public humiliation to Tyra of all people…in front of tweens! Damn. I wish she would’ve just said, “Fuck this! I’m out!”

I love Tyra, but she needs to stop.

Why didn’t she ask any engaging questions relating to their campaingns & their goals? I might have to hit up her site with a suggestion.

Daria - I’m sure you’ve seen this, but Chris Matthews apologized for his mean remarks re Hillary.

He apologized for one statement he made which was that she’s only there because her husband cheated on her. He didn’t apologize for calling her a she-devil, Madame Defarge (Dickens’ ATOTC), witch, etc. Sh!t. If Joe Scarborough (batsh*t neo-con during Clinton admin who I’m sure prays for a return to antebellum America) thinks Matthews disrespected Hillary, he disrespected her.

Ok. Now I feel decent enough to watch and comment.

I really feel bad that she still has to answer questions re Bill’s infidelity. To have that thrown in your face constantly can’t be easy.

Other than that - she did pretty well here. She needs a haircut though.

I’m not gonna front…if I had a talk show I’d probably talk about myself and over-talk the guests, too. Although my show would have to be on HBO b/c of all the profanities.

Whoa there nellie! Did Tyra say to someone who might be the leader of the free world:

“sometimes I look in the mirror and see a new cellulite dimple in my butt…”

Oh, my. Yea, Tyra shouldn’t ever interview a presidential candidate again. EVER.

::hangs head in shame::

Tyra is embarrassing. I know Hillary’s staffers were in the green room with their rosary beads reciting “hail mary.” If someone is going to ruin you, it best not be Tyra Banks. She did well though. She seems like a friend’s mom which is a compliment.

Re: Bob Johnson:

Way to fail to mention that Obama had Jesse Jackson, Jr. say that Clinton doesn’t give a damn about Katrina survivors b/c she didn’t get emotional on camera (Uh, neither did Obama; Hell, he refused to call out the Bush administration’s response as racist saying that incompetence was “color blind”). If you’re going to blast her for Johnson (as you should) at least you should blast Obama for having his NATIONAL CO-CHAIR say some fucked up bullshit.

Check it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNrlSn7ndAA&e

Seriously, he needs to be held accountable for his nonsense or else he’ll keep doing it and it’ll hurt our chances to reclaim the White House.

Re: Obama/Jesse

She didn’t cry publicly about her husband’s infidelity and the impeachment hearing. She didn’t cry publicly about 9/11. She didn’t cry publicly about the hostage situation. Does that mean she doesn’t care about any of those things? No. Maybe crying or choking up is something that men see as the highest form of emotion. I know that it’s not the case for me or many women.

I don’t doubt for a second that Obama and half of the people in congress thought it was racially motivated. Part of his widespread appeal is that he isn’t seen as an “uppity Negro,” put in the same box as Al Sharpton in the minds of lots of white people. To them, he’s “magical Negro,” and I don’t agree with that assessment of him. To some of his white supporters, this is what makes him wonderful:

**Never expresses anger in his voice or body language though I’m sure he feels it. What would be “passion” if it came from his white male colleagues would be “irrational/unstable” in the women and for him, it would be “threatening” or “intimidating.”
**People, including journalists basically want to say that because he won the primaries, Americans are not racist and there are equal opportunities for everyone to succeed.
**The black side is Kenyan. White guilt doesn’t apply to black people whose parents (or ancestors) came on British Airways or otherwise by choice.
The key part is that they want to get rid of “white guilt.”
