Yet Another Obama/Osama Mix Up

Hillary Clinton has threatened to boycott MSNBC after Chris Matthews made a series of inappropriate comments and another reporter said that her daughter was being "pimped out" for votes. But Barack Obama became the target of the news network's latest gaffe, when someone flashed a photo of Osama Bin Laden during a story about Obama. Haven't news directors been over the Obama/Osama issue with their employees by now?

Without naming names, NBC News announced Tuesday that it has reprimanded the employee responsible for the mixup, which took place as Matthews was previewing a story on the controversy over Obama's use of another politician's words. A picture of bin Laden briefly flashed on the screen with the headline "Words About Words."

"This mistake was inexcusable," MSNBC spokesman Jeremy Gaines said.

Barack Obama's camp said the apology was "noted" but had no other comment. [EUR]

Okay, can someone, anyone find one instance where these type of "mistakes" are made against any of the Republican candidates or even Hillary Clinton? This is the umpteenth time a gaffe has been made linking Barack Obama to Osama Bin Laden or Al Qaeda. Just this past Tuesday, CNN's closed captioning system posted on the screen that Al Qaeda called to congratulate Obama on his Wisconsin victory although Anderson Cooper, who was on the air at the time, said nothing of the sort.

Bullsh*t, yes, I call it.

I'm more likely to think this incidence (and only this one) was accidental, at least on Chris Matthews part since CM spends an hour everyday being Obama's volunteer taint licker. It is very possible that the producers or minions did it on purpose though.

Well, if your crying now you may as well buy stock in Kleenex. The swiftboating hasn't even begun, chaps. Obama-Osama is pretty tame considering the things I'm hearing…it has to do with Obama and women who are not his wife. We'll see.

Wild guess: white women, possibly blond and blue eyed? The republicans need to get a new creative director of smear campaigns.

That reporter had a 'What the hell was that all about?' look on his face towards the end.

These so-called news outlets get on my nerves with the 'it was a mistake' shit.

No, Daria, it was black women. And the person who told me was an Obama supporter. He also happens to be a journalist covering the state capital. I know him from going to the capital for PP stuff. He told me where he heard it, but I can't say for sure if that source if true. Like I said, we'll see.

Hillary people tried to spread that "other women lie" and failed because the news media wouldn't bite.
then Hillary tried to spread the "drug take" and the news media said "did you read his book?"
Hillary then tried to spread the "he's African, not American" tale and that also failed.
What other whisper campaign will they try next.

I hope the brother has better sense than to cheat on his wife and then run for president. It's not like they haven't already pulled out his kindergarten papers. Everything he's ever done will be under a microscope.

TruthTeller - It didn't come from Hillary ppl as far as I know. How would you know it's a lie? I'm not saying I beleive it, but we don't know any of these people or what they've done. Don't pretend that you do.

Truth - what are you going to do when Obama does do something wrong? Hillary will be out of the picture. Who will you blame then? Since he apparently is perfect and can do and hasn't ever done anything wrong. LMAO.

Actually, TruthTeller, it's cool. From one hard-headed stan to the next, I feel you. Just make sure you can take the heat that's coming your way, that's all.

Is this their lame way of trying to clean up their Hillary Clinton mess? I've heard that Hillary's been calling up MSNBC tryna get Chris Matthews fired. Can't say that I blame her.

& like BMD said, the deliberate Obama/Osama mixups are pretty mild.

Would anyone really be surprised if it came out that Barack Obama has cheated on Michelle? It would be disappointing, sure, but let's be real. Knowing what we know about the personal lives of successful politicians of the past, it seems far more likely that he would than that he wouldn't. The question is, would anyone care? I think that what the New York Times was trying to make a big deal in the McCain scandal was that the woman he might have been sleeping with was a lobbyist that could have been influencing his political decisions. I honestly don't think an infidelity rumor would be the smartest thing for the Clintons too cook up…for obvious reasons.

Hillary has thrown the kitchen sink at this guy and he comes out smelling of roses.
I would suggest that we "ourselves" don't become part of a whisper campaign, you know what I mean, the "I heard from someone who heard from someone else that Barack is an alien /Heard that Hillary is really a Lesbian".
Those sort of things should be unacceptable and beneath depraved.
Lets not whisper, lets deal with the facts, lets be dignified.

*This is really good/bad news for me*

I have enjoyed my visits to this Blog and have grown to admire how well put together it is and to respect its purpose. What brought me to this Blog was my significant other who, shares a lot in common with the community, far more than I do.

Unfortunately, I have only perhaps a week or two left, that I will have the time to regularly Blog with you all, as I will be resuming my full workload soon.
Some months ago I was struck with an illness which left me totally blind in one eye and 75% blind in the left one, so I was forced to work from home in a reduced capacity, but thankfully I am, with my doctors surgical intervention able to see again, my last operation was 02/09/08, and I now have 20/20 vision restored, though there is still lots of pain.
therefore in a couple of weeks I will not be heard from as often as I tend to travel a lot, but occasionally I will visit and add my ten cents.

@Lauren, I am a big fan of you and the Site.

Thanks, my health is improving rapidly now.

Unfortunately, I have been blessed with an Al Gore type of humour (off/off), perhaps it's lack of real human contact after having been prodded and poked by doctors all these months.

To you,
Pax et lux
